Pumpkin Competition !

It was a close run competition yesterday with a range of excellent entries !

But the winners were <drum roll> Gracie Moulder, Fraser Tweedlie, and Sophia Tjolle !
Unfortunately Sophia wasn’t there for photos.

Fraser’s entry was quite scary !
Gracie’s entry was very innovative !
“Ahem….yes, I think you’ve caught my best side there….”

Well done to everyone that entered though – it was a very difficult choice from such good entries !

Poppy Appeal 2021

This year we are resuming the door-to-door collection around the village
between Saturday 30 October and Thursday 11 November so, just a gentle
reminder to please have some cash in the house to feed our collection boxes
when you buy your poppy. Unfortunately we haven’t yet caught up with the
technology to have card readers.

If we miss you at home Philip Carter will have his supply of poppies and a
collection box in the Church during the coffee mornings on Saturday 30
October and Saturday 6 November. I will also be quite happy for you to call at
22 Follyfield.

Minety Art Club Exhibition – THIS WEEKEND !

After a year’s absence, and Covid rules permitting, Minety Art Club will once again be holding their Annual Art Exhibition and sale of work on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th October 2021 in Minety Village Hall. Entrance is free.

Over the years, the Art Club’s exhibition has become a highly regarded showcase for local artistic talent and a must-see on Minety’s events calendar. In addition to a substantial collection of affordable original art for sale, selected artists will be demonstrating their working techniques and giving visitors a chance to have a go themselves.

For children, there will be an opportunity to be shown how to paint in watercolour.

Refreshments of tea coffee and cakes will be available throughout both days.

Missing Ted

Our ginger cat called Ted has been missing since teatime yesterday. Please could you  check your sheds etc. We’re all quite worried as he never goes out this long. I know Rosie has a cat that looks very similar though which might be confusing.

Thank you,
Emma Watts

Remembrance Sunday (14 Nov)

A single red poppy against a blue sky

The October Grapevine says that there will be the usual service but at 3pm this year, led by a member of the clergy. We would have preferred a service at 11am, the traditional time, but there are not enough clergy to cover all 6 churches in our Group simultaneously. However, as an additional part of Remembrance Day, there will be an informal gathering at 10.50 on the same morning next to our Commonwealth War Grave. This will include the familiar words “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old….” etc, followed by a 2 minute silence at 11am. All are welcome to both Remembrances.
