This is from Bunny Lees-Smith who is organising this on behalf of Fairford Classic Car Club. You can ring him if you need more information – 577275

A coach trip to visit the Bletchley Park museum. 14th June 2022

The museum was to become  the principal centre of Allied code-breaking during the Second World War.

During World War II, the estate housed the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS), which regularly penetrated the secret communications of the Axis Powers – most importantly the German Enigma and Lorenz ciphers. The nature of the work at Bletchley remained secret until many years after the war.

According to the official historian of British Intelligence, the “Ultra” intelligence produced at Bletchley shortened the war by two to four years, and without it the outcome of the war would have been uncertain. The team at Bletchley Park devised automatic machinery to help with decryption, culminating in the development of Colossus, the world’s first programmable digital electronic computer.

The coach will leave Cricklade Rugby Club Car park (free) at 9.00am and then pick up at Fairford near the Church at 9.20am

The coach fare is £25 per head. Entrance fee (to be paid for on arrival at the museum is £21.50 for an adult and £18.50 for concessions (over 60))

If you cancel we will not be able to refund your coach fare.
